Episode Summary:
My most requested guest – Marian Parsons is on the podcast today! Listen in as I chat with my good friend and mentor, Miss Mustard Seed!
Business owner, artist, blogger, creative, author, painter, booth and market seller, podcast host, product developer, paint line owner, business mentor – and so much more. We chat about her business journey and how she has evolved and grown her beautiful business, staying creative, and more.
In 2008, Marian was a mom of a four month old and a two year old, had no money or experience in running a business, but her family needed to make some extra money. So she began decorative furniture painting and painting murals in local homes.
Realizing that this wasn’t all that she wanted to do, Marian quickly evolved, started a blog, and re-branded herself as a business focusing on antiques, home decor, and painting. She became a vendor at the Lucketts Store and had a milk paint line which made her feel as though she was flying by the seat of her pants. All while being a sponge and learning from the amazing people she surrounded herself with.
Yet another Accidental Entrepreneur…
We’re always trying new things to see what works, aren’t we!?
Like us all, Marian had shifts of passion and made many numbers based decisions, while never forgetting to focus on what was right for her. And through everything she has going on currently (ie: her podcast, her upcoming book, her artwork, etc), Marian talks about her boundaries and how she is constantly re-evaluating her patterns and strategies. She focuses on what’s really going on in her business on a day-to-day basis in order to reach her goals.
She also reminds us that we all go through seasonal cycles within our business and our lives. Cycles where we are managing everything really well, or times when we are not. So if you are a creative shop owner who can’t keep all the plates spinning, or are feeling overwhelmed, listen in to our discussion about strategies and how to make a plan to get those creative juices flowing again!
