Let’s talk about Amazon.
First – you are not Amazon. And boy that’s awesome, isn’t it?
In today’s episode, I am going to give you some strategies and ideas that will give you a competitive advantage over Amazon.
First up – change your mindset. Think of Amazon as just another business down the road, and ask yourself “what do they do well that I can incorporate into my independent shop?”
Your competitive advantage is HUGE. You are a passionate caring hard working shop owner.
But let’s look at a few things Amazon does well that YOU can implement in your own business. (No – I don’t mean free shipping)
Four things Amazon does well and have proven works:
- Always make decisions from what will benefit customers – what do customers need and want right now? What would make it easier to shop and buy?
- The Press Release Method (working backwards) – reverse engineer new services/ideas – who, what, where, when, why?
- Social Proof and Star Rating – reviews matter, loyalty programs, etc.
- Suggestive Selling – helping customers buy the next right thing, hone your skills as a salesperson (listen to episode 27 here)
Remember, your competitive advantage over Amazon is your genuine interest in your customer’s success with your products. Your values, integrity, and heart will shine compared to those big box companies.
You are not Amazon – you are so much more! Your customers are so happy about that!
